WHY TO RENT A YACHT IN CYCLADES

Cyclades are certainly the most famous group of Greek islands located in the central part of the Aegean Sea. Although this archipelago has 220 islands, most of them are uninhabited and small in size. But besides, Cyclades are certainly one of the favorite destinations for cruising most tourists. The climate on the Cyclades Islands is Mediterranean, with long summers and mild winters that make this archipelago great for long vacations.

The most famous Cyclades are Santorini, Mykonos, Paros, Ios, Anafi and Milos. The largest island of the archipelago is Naxos, which is known for its greenery. Delos Island is the most famous uninhabited island that once used to be a sacred island, and today it is a true archaeological museum in the open.

Cycladic archipelago is characterized by natural beauty. The islands were formed around the island of Delos and hence the name of the archipelago (kiklos, on the Greek circle). Each island is a story for itself, with special charm and has its own admirers. The islands are within a short distance from each other for the best way to cruise them. In Cyclades, you will find beautiful beaches, places for sports and various other activities, but also wonderful places to ensure privacy. Santorini is one of the most spectacular islands, not just Cyclades, but also all of Greece. This volcanic island has beautiful sandy beaches and beautiful landscapes. Santorini is famous for the most beautiful sunset in the world and a party that never stops. The island of Milos is similar to Santorini and is characterized by warm springs and incredible cliffs and walls. The most famous beaches are Paliochori and Hivadolimni, while Pollonia and Sarakiniko are the most interesting places for swimming in Greece. Paros is the main base of the ferryboat in the Aegean Sea, so it is easy to go to the nearby islands. Beach Paros is very nice, and they are good even for surfing. Naxos is the true gem of the Cycladic archipelago. It is located near Santorini, Mykonos and Paros and has the most beautiful beaches in Greece.

WHEN TO GO?

WHAT PERIOD TO RENT A YACHT IN CYCLADES

The yacht charter season in Greece starts April and ends in October.

The high season runs from the last week of July till the first half of August where the temperature is around 25°C.

Even though during August there is a strong Meltemi wind (it can reach a force of 7 and even 8 bf) that may cause inconvenience, August is very popular for sailing in Greece.

The warmest months are July and August, with average temperatures of 25°C/77°F and day temperatures often well in excess of 30°C/90°F

It is always a smart idea to avoid peak seasons, both in terms of charter cost but also to avoid crowed beaches, marinas and restaurants. The following graphs depict the demand* for yacht holiday in respect with average precipitation and average temperature.
To avoid peak seasons while still having comfort weather conditions, rent  a yacht in Cyclades in June or the second half of August until first half of September.
